St. Thomas Church
Gladstone, North Dakota

When the railroad reached Gladstone in 1880 the Benedictine priests serving Mandan, ND visited now and then to offer the sacraments and instruction. The first Mass was said in the home of Peter Dassinger. From 1899 to 1947 the monks of Assumption Abbey, Richardton, ND served the parish. Diocesan priests served St. Thomas until 1980 when the Benedictines returned.

The present church was built in 1975 and serves the parish well. St. Thomas has 43 households. It has an active KC Council and KCettes and well as Parish Circles to which the ladies belong. The ministries of Lector, Commentator, Altar Server and Usher are well provided for. The leaders of the parish see to it that all needs are met and that the Church is being properly maintained and cared for. Coffee and rolls are served after Mass every second Sunday of the month.

Since St. Thomas is receiving pastoral services from St. Mary's, Richardton, ND its baptismal, marriage and death records are kept at St. Mary's.
