UNITED BLOOD SERVICES and I would like to thank everyone who responded to the Blood Drive which was held at the American Legion on May 4th.  It was sponsored by Richardton Memorial Hospital.  They supplied the delicious cookies and juice.  We had 4 new donors and collected an awesome total of 42 units of life saving blood.  Each unit can save up to 3 lives.  Our Door Prize winners were Leroy Schwartz & Duane Rakness.  I would also like to thank Leroy Schwartz for helping out the day of the blood drive and to the American Legion for the use of their wonderful facility.  Our next Blood Drive will be August 7th.   Thank You,
                                                                                                Judy Roll, Blood Drive Co-ordinator

THANK YOU for your prayers and cards and good wishes as I continue to recover.
                                                                                          Fr. Boniface.

VOCATION VIEWS: Pentecost Come Holy Spirit, with your seven-fold gifts.  Inspire, enlighten, energize, and encourage me to be a witness for the gospel.  (1 Corinthians 12:3-7, 12-13)

STEWARDSHIP: In the second reading today, St. Paul reminds the Corinthians, “There are different gifts, but the same Spirit; there are different ministries but the same Lord.”  How am I using my gifts “for the common good”?
Stewardship Thought:  We are all stewards – managers of the many gifts God has bestowed upon us.  Our challenge as Christians is to make good use of those gifts.

RIGHT TO LIFE: In the Holy Spirit, who came on Pentecost, the apostles proclaimed the truth of the Gospel. The Spirit, the Soul of the Church, continues to enable the Church to speak, and enables each of us to speak in our personal capacity. As Bishop Elio Sgreccia, Vice-President of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy for Life has said, “The Church must speak out in today’s context on fundamental rights, the right to justice, the right to peace, but above all and in the first place, the right to life. If the Church did not speak, did not proclaim the truth, it would be abandoning its duty; would be unfaithful to society, to the good of society. Therefore, its precise duty is the very liberty to intervene with word and also with example – the example of promoting human life, of intervening for the salvation of all.”

GOSPEL REFLECTIONS: Next, Matthew 10:16-20, has some odd advice for the disciple. “I send you like sheep among wolves; be shrewd as serpents & simple as doves.” Jesus is sending us out defenseless, but we are not to worry and prepare our defenses, no more than our Savior did. This requires lots of trust: not so much when we are in a secure, familiar place, but when we are facing real opposition and persecution. The trust is that God is there for us and with us, and will preserve us from true harm. Our hope is that, as God preserved Jesus from lasting death, so we too will find life.
